FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it like a tattoo?

Although it may be referred to as a hair tattoo, our inks do not change color after applying like a regular tattoo does. SMP ink is placed in the top layer of the dermis portion of skin, which prevents ink from spreading. SMP pigments do not change color. Tattoo ink is placed deeper into the skin and might change color and spread.

Will SMP change color - will it fade?

The specially formulated pigment used only for SMP will not change color. The pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten, not discolor over an extended period of time. Any fading can be reduced through quality sun block and proper aftercare. Possible fading will vary from person to person, depending on ethnicity, activity level, blood type, and more. It maybe be necessary to have additional touch-up procedure. Most clients will not need a touch up for many years.

Scalp micro-pigmentation also utilizes needles and machines that are specifically designed for micro-pigmentation.

Does my hair color matter?

We are experienced to match any hair color. We use a scale of 28 levels to mix and match your personal hair color, giving you the most realistic look possible.

How long is the healing process?

Usually, the healing process for your scalp should be completed within a week after your procedure. We will provide a post care guide for the first week and after that, all we ask is that you protect your scalp with high SPF Sunblock daily. You should be able to return to work or go out to dinner immediately following your procedure. There will be some redness on the treated areas and you may wear a hat if you prefer. There is no real down time, as this is not a surgery.

How many sessions will I need?

Most procedures require up to 4 sessions. The first session creates an outline, creating the perception of hair follicles spread out throughout the entire scalp. In the second session we fill in density to ensure optimal results while allowing room for small adjustments to the hairline and any color adjustments that may be necessary.  During the 3rd and 4th session - if needed -  we fill in and darken any areas if necessary for an even and real look. Procedures are usually scheduled 1 week to 10 days apart to allow time for healing. Procedures take between 1 and 4 hours, deepening on the extend of the procedure.

Will the treatment be detectable?

At SOCALSMP we create an authentic and realistic look. The result is undedectable even in a close-up look.  You will  look much younger with a more natural hair line.  Not even yoru friends and family will be  able to dedect your treatment unless you tell them.

Will I be able to meet an actual client?

We can connect you with an actual client to see the result in person and also ask any questions that you might have for someone who has experienced the treatment.

What satisfaction guarantee do you give?

If you have concerns with your final results, we will address them at no additional cost to you to ensure your complete satisfaction. We want you to be completely satisfied with your results!  We will work with you until you are satisfied.

Does the procedure hurt?

On a scale from 1 to 10, most clients rate their discomfort level around 2-3, consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won't experience any further discomfort.

How much does it cost?
